Ergonomics

The GSA18V design is a huge advantage with it being designed very different from the typical reciprocating saw. The handle is extremely well thought out and comfortable. The saw has an angled motor putting the weight at the back of the motor allowing multiple cutting angles without fatiguing the hands. The unique shape of the saw's handle puts the cutting angle of the blade in the perfect position to make very aggressive cuts.

Brushless Cordless Power

The brushless motor obviously is a big improvement giving the saw longer run time and more power. The brushless motor is designed to work with the Core 18V battery. A power house of a battery, the Core 18V 6.3 AH 18 volt battery produces up to 1,440 Watts of energy - 80% more than previous-generation 6.0 AH batteries and this saw makes good use of it. I was able to remove an entire 24 x 14 foot deck on one battery charge with this saw.

Cutting

Right out of the gate, this saw was cutting faster than most corded

saws. The saw features three orbital modes that help it power through

different materials. It features 0-2,500 strokes per minute at 1.25" per stroke. The adjustable footplate enables control of the cutting depth and use of a wide array of the blade's teeth. It has Vibration Control counterbalance technology and a long, easily reachable variable-speed trigger. All of this adds up to a very enjoyable cutting experience.

Extras

The saw has a couple features I really like. First, a large ladder hook. This is very helpful when working at heights. Secondly, I really appreciated the dual LED lighting around the blade. The lights were very bright and well placed to cause almost no blade shadow.

Verdict

This IS the best reciprocating saw I have ever used. It's comfortable, easy to use and cuts like a dream. It's really just a fun tool to pull out come demo time. This saw is designed to be used in the hardest conditions without adding work load on the user. With the added benefit of the Core 18V battery, this is a tool and battery platform you will not regret investing in.
